HM begins a state visit to Kuwait today

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will pay a state-visit to the State of Kuwait on Monday, during which he will meet Shaikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait.

A statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court to this effect says: “In affirmation of the deep-rooted and fraternal relations biding the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will go on a state-visit to Kuwait with effect from Monday, during which he will meet Shaikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait. The visit stems from distinguished relations between the two sides. It also reflects the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to push the joint cooperation towards wider horizons. The visit will explore areas of the existing cooperation between the two countries in various spheres and means of promoting them to serve interests and aspirations of the Omani and Kuwaiti peoples.”

Speaking about the visit, Jassim al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in a statement to Oman News Agency, underscored the significance of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s visit to the State of Kuwait.

Al Budaiwi said, “This visit would boost the historical ties and relations between Oman and Kuwait, serving as a step to broaden strategic partnership. It reflects our mutual commitment to expanding cooperation and integration.”

“The visit marks a significant milestone in the Gulf integration process, driven by the collective determination of Gulf leaders to pursue a shared vision for the security and prosperity of our peoples”, he stated.

ECONOMIC TIES

The Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee contributed to expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries in many fields of economics, trade, education, scientific research, youth, civil service, environment and other various development fields. It also created trade and investment exchange, as represented by the signing of many agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields.

In addition to the joint cooperation, there is direct coordination at the highest level between the two sides in multiple fields, including at the level of the GCC.

The evolving economic and trade relationship between Oman and Kuwait reflects their shared commitment to fostering growth and prosperity for both nations.

The largest energy project in the region, the Duqm Refinery Project, a joint venture equally shared between Oman and Kuwait, exemplifies the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries.
