MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a public warning regarding a new wave of fraudulent emails targeting residents in the Sultanate. The scam messages falsely inform recipients that they have outstanding traffic fines or unpaid dues.
According to an official awareness advisory, scammers are posing as official traffic authorities. These deceptive emails contain malicious links designed to trick users into making payments or disclosing sensitive personal and banking credentials.
The ROP has strongly urged the public to remain vigilant. Authorities advised residents not to open links from unknown senders, download unverified attachments, or share confidential data on unsecured platforms. These phishing attempts are specifically engineered to steal personal data and exploit victims financially under the guise of official government notices.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious emails or suspected cyber fraud to the relevant authorities immediately.
