MUSCAT — Oman’s National Subsidy Committee has introduced a temporary 30-litre limit on fuel purchases at service stations located within 50 kilometres of the country’s border crossings, following a surge in demand at specific outlets.

According to Nasra bint Sultan Al Habsi, Director General of Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the measure was enacted to ensure steady fuel availability and fair distribution for consumers. In an interview with Oman Radio, Al Habsi explained that the temporary arrangement is designed to regulate refuelling quantities and manage the heavy traffic and increased consumption observed at border-adjacent filling stations.

Authorities have noted that the regulation aims to safeguard local fuel supplies and prevent shortages while monitoring ongoing market demands.
