Muscat- Dhofar’s tourism landscape is set for a major boost with the official opening of the Salalah Eye observation wheel on August 15, 2026. Located at Al Haffa Beach near the New Haffa Souq, the new landmark aims to become a flagship attraction during the peak of the region’s famous Khareef (monsoon) season.
Standing 55 metres above the Arabian Sea, the Salalah Eye is officially Oman’s tallest observation wheel. Developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Dhofar Municipality, the project is designed to elevate Salalah’s status as a premier regional and year-round travel destination.
Key Highlights of the Attraction:
-
The Experience: The wheel features 30 fully enclosed, climate-controlled cabins. Each cabin can hold up to six passengers, offering sweeping 360-degree panoramic views of Salalah’s coastline, the Arabian Sea, and the lush, mist-covered mountain landscapes unique to the Khareef season.
-
Ride Duration: A single complete rotation lasts between 8 and 12 minutes.
-
Operating Hours: The observation wheel will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Ticket Pricing:
-
Standard Ticket: OMR 7 per person for a shared cabin.
-
Early Bird Booking: OMR 5 to OMR 6 (promotional rates available for advance/early bookings).
-
Private Family Cabin: OMR 28 for an entire cabin accommodating up to six guests.
The launch arrives as Dhofar experiences continued growth in its tourism sector. Last year, the governorate welcomed over 1.07 million visitors during the Khareef season, generating roughly OMR 125 million in visitor spending. The addition of the Salalah Eye is expected to further enrich family entertainment options and drive economic momentum across the region’s hospitality, retail, and transport sectors.
