MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has officially announced that Wednesday, May 27, 2026, will mark the first day of Eid Al Adha (10th of Dhu Al Hijjah 1447 AH).
The announcement followed a meeting on Sunday evening, May 17, by the Main Committee for the Sighting of the Hijri Month Crescents. The committee confirmed that the crescent moon of Dhu Al Hijjah was successfully sighted, making Monday, May 18, the official beginning of the holy month.
Consequently, the Day of Arafah—the pinnacle of the annual Hajj pilgrimage—will be observed on Tuesday, May 26, with the Eid festivities commencing the following day.
Omanis and residents can look forward to a multi-day public holiday, with official dates for government and private sector closures expected to be confirmed soon.
