MUSCAT: Oman is tracking toward an exceptionally hot summer, with weather models indicating that temperatures will rise well above historical norms for June, July, and August.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) latest seasonal climate bulletin, the entire Sultanate will face sustained, higher-than-average heat. Alongside the intense temperatures, a dip in seasonal rainfall is expected for June, particularly across the eastern and southeastern governorates.
Authorities emphasized that while this seasonal outlook serves as a crucial long-term planning tool for sectors like agriculture and public services, residents should continue to check daily short-range forecasts for immediate updates and localized hazards.
The warning comes as temperatures across the region begin to scrape the 50°C mark. On Monday, As Sunainah recorded the nation’s highest temperature at 46.6°C, followed closely by Hamra Al Droua at 46.5°C, and Al Buraimi, Dima Wat Tayeen, and Samail at 46.4°C. Health and safety officials urge the public to stay hydrated and avoid direct midday sun exposure to prevent heat exhaustion.
