MUSCAT: Oman’s Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has issued a fresh reminder regarding the strict regulations governing the sale of vehicle tyres across the Sultanate. Under Decision No. 257/2015, the sale and circulation of all used tyres remain strictly prohibited to ensure public safety and protect consumer rights.

In addition to the total ban on second-hand tyres, the authority highlighted specific age limits for new, unused tyres. To be legally sold in Oman, passenger car, bus, and light truck tyres must be no older than 24 months from their production date. For heavy trucks, the maximum allowable age is 30 months. These measures aim to reduce road accidents caused by degraded or substandard rubber, ensuring all vehicles are equipped with reliable components.
