Muscat- Following a ruling by India’s Supreme Court, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced special board examinations for Class 12 regular and private candidates in GCC and West Asian countries. The exams cover 40 academic and skill-based subjects that were previously canceled earlier this year due to regional tensions. Eligible students can register through the official CBSE website from September 22 to 26, with their new scores set to replace previous assessment-based results.

Muscat: Under Decision No. 206/2026, Oman’s Tax Authority has established minimum standard reference prices for tobacco products to calculate excise taxes. Effective October 1, 2026, the baseline price will be set at no less than RO 1 for a pack of 20 cigarettes and RO 2.500 per 250 grams for shisha and other ready-to-use tobacco products. Excise tax will be calculated based on whichever is higher: the retail selling price or the newly established standard benchmark value.

MUSCAT — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have successfully dismantled a criminal gang responsible for a string of thefts targeting farms and animal enclosures in the North Al Batinah Governorate. According to the North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command, seven individuals—all possessing prior criminal records—were taken into custody following a series of coordinated operations. The suspects are accused of plundering more than 130 heads of livestock from multiple properties across wilayats including Sohar, Saham, and Al Khabourah. Authorities have confirmed that all necessary legal proceedings against the apprehended individuals are currently being finalized.
