Muscat- The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Oman has confiscated more than 17,000 expired and tampered cosmetic products during a major inspection sweep in the Muscat Governorate.

Led by the Department of Commercial Fraud Control, the operation uncovered a widespread commercial fraud scheme involving the deliberate alteration of expiry dates. In total, authorities seized 17,236 items, which included 1,483 completely expired products ready for sale and 15,753 items bearing falsified expiration dates.

Following the raid, the Public Prosecution ordered the immediate closure of the offending commercial establishment pending the finalization of legal proceedings. All confiscated goods have been securely impounded as legal measures are enforced against those responsible.

The CPA has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding public health and cracking down on fraudulent practices that endanger consumers. The authority urges shoppers to remain vigilant—carefully verifying expiry dates, product packaging, and labels before purchasing personal care items—and encourages the public to report any suspected commercial violations through its official communication channels.
