Muscat- The Royal Oman Police (ROP), through the Directorate General of Traffic, has announced official guidelines and safety regulations for motorists wishing to decorate their vehicles for Oman’s National Day.
Vehicle owners are permitted to display National Day stickers and decorations from November 1 to November 30, 2026. While the celebrations encourage patriotic expressions, the ROP has emphasized strict adherence to public safety and traffic regulations.
Key Rules and Restrictions
-
Permitted Window Placement: Stickers are strictly prohibited on front windscreens and side windows. They are only allowed on the rear window provided they do not obstruct the driver’s visibility or compromise road safety.
-
Banned Imagery: The use of stickers featuring the national crown and khanjar (dagger) emblem is prohibited.
-
No Fabric Materials: Placing fabric decorations or materials anywhere on the vehicle—especially on the engine bonnet—is forbidden.
-
Design Content: Displayed posters and stickers must be securely attached and limited to appropriate images and phrases that reflect the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
-
Vehicle Integrity: Modifications must not alter the vehicle’s original color or shape, and all decorations must comply strictly with traffic safety requirements.
Guidelines for 4×4 and Other Vehicles
For four-wheel-drive and general vehicles, decorations are legally restricted to specific areas, such as the vehicle body, fixed rear side glass, and the rear window (subject to visibility clearances).
The ROP urges all motorists to strictly follow these conditions during the designated grace period to avoid traffic violations and ensure road safety for everyone.
