MUSCAT – Oman Meteorology has issued a series of weather alerts for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, warning residents of volatile weather conditions across several parts of the Sultanate.

Thunderstorms and Dust in the Hajar Mountains Starting from 12:00 PM, moderate-intensity thunderstorms are expected over the Hajar Mountains and surrounding regions. The forecast indicates the development of cumulus clouds during the afternoon, which are likely to bring scattered rainfall. These storms will be accompanied by active downdraft winds and potential dust-raising conditions.

Strong Wind Warnings Authorities have issued moderate wind alerts for multiple governorates:

    • Effective from Midnight: Al Jazirah, Duqm, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, Mahout, and Masirah.

    • Effective from 4:00 PM: Tamrit, Maqshan, and Haima.

    General Conditions and Visibility

    • Dhofar: The coast of the Dhofar Governorate is expected to remain partly cloudy, with a chance of scattered rainfall and intermittent drizzle.

    • Desert Areas: Winds are expected to stir up dust and sand in desert regions overlooking the Arabian Sea, which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility.

    • Fog and Low Clouds: Late night and early morning hours may bring low clouds or fog to parts of the South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar governorates, as well as sections along the Sea of Oman coastline.

The rest of the Sultanate is expected to remain mostly clear. Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas where visibility may be affected by dust or storm activity.
