Mascat- Starting June 16, 2026, motorists in Oman will have a new, streamlined option for vehicle safety checks. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) is officially opening the nation’s first private vehicle technical inspection centre, located at the Oman Automobile Association.
This move represents a major upgrade to the national transport infrastructure, designed to reduce congestion at existing inspection facilities and provide drivers with more convenient service options. Operating under the guidelines of Decision No. 88/2024, the centre serves as a pilot project for a wider strategy to involve the private sector in delivering essential public services. By enhancing efficiency and accessibility, this initiative ensures that maintaining vehicle safety standards becomes a faster, more user-friendly experience for all residents.
