Muscat- The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a public warning about the increasing prevalence of fake advertisements that use official faces and logos to deceive individuals.
The ROP advises the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of online advertisements before engaging in any transactions, as these scams aim to deceive unsuspecting individuals into sharing their financial information.
The warning comes amid a rise in electronic fraud, where criminals are using forged logos, official images, and misleading links to create the illusion of legitimacy.
The ROP has provided several key safety tips for internet users to avoid falling victim to such scams. These include:
• Always verify the source
• Beware of fake logos
• Avoid suspicious links
• Do not share financial data.
The Royal Oman Police also emphasised the importance of using digital security tools to safeguard against online threats.
