Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) in the Sultanate of Oman has issued a call to citizens and residents to participate in the observation of the crescent moon of Shawwal 1446 AH. This observation is to take place on the evening of Saturday, the 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH, which corresponds to March 29, 2025. MERA has requested that anyone who sights the crescent report their observation by contacting the offices of the respective Walis or judges, or by using the provided telephone numbers.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Labour has announced the official Eid Al Fitr holiday, which will commence on Saturday, March 29, 2025. The duration of the holiday will depend on the actual sighting of the moon and the resulting date of Eid. Two possible scenarios have been outlined:

    (A) If Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, the holiday will conclude on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with official working hours resuming on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

    (B) If Eid falls on Monday, March 31, 2025, the holiday will end on Thursday, April 3, 2025, and official working hours will resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
