Muscat: As the Sultanate celebrated Logistics Day 2025, underscoring the sector’s vital role in achieving the ambitious Oman Vision 2040 for economic diversification, Oman Airports announced a series of new initiatives to boost the nation’s logistics landscape.

The Logistics Day event, held under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, was organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, with Oman Airports participating as a silver sponsor.

On the sidelines of the celebrations, Oman Airports and its subsidiaries announced the launch of a series of new initiatives to support and enhance the logistics sector in the Sultanate. Notably, Oman Airports announced an extension of its highly popular long-term parking special offer at Muscat International Airport. Travelers can now take advantage of parking at the P5 long-term facility for a nominal fee of just one Omani riyal per day, effective from today, April 30th, until September 30th, 2025, perfectly aligning with the khareef tourist season.

In addition to the parking offer, Oman Airports also introduced initiatives aimed at promoting local products and enhancing the shopping experience for travellers. These include various offers and discounts at the “Souq Oman” store, featuring local delicacies such as dates and traditional Omani sweets.
Besides, a new “shop and collect” service will be available at the duty-free market, allowing passengers to conveniently shop online and collect their purchases either before their flight or upon arrival.

It is pertinent to note that Oman’s logistics sector continues to demonstrate its growing economic influence, contributing approximately RO 2.25 billion to GDP in 2024, with investments totalling RO 2.3 billion. Projections indicate the sector’s contribution could soar to RO 36 billion by 2040.
