Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced ‘Shahin’ as the name of the unified national application for electric vehicle (EV) charging in the Sultanate of Oman.
The name was selected through a public participation campaign, where people were invited to help shape the national digital identity by voting for the app’s name.
“Based on the results, the name “Shahin” was chosen as the official name for the unified national electric vehicle charging application in the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting a national identity linked to energy and sustainable mobility. The visual identity for the application will be launched and announced soon,” the Ministry announced.
The initiative aimed to enhance e-participation and promote community involvement in national sustainability efforts.
According to the Ministry, the campaign saw the participation of 144 respondents. “The results showed a preference for several proposed names, and participants suggested a range of alternative names with environmental, technical, and cultural connotations,” the Ministry noted.
