Expat residents in Oman can now apply for a 30-day extendable e-visa to the UAE.

Muscat- GCC residents and their companions can apply for a 30-day e-visa to enter the United Arab Emirates, with the option of extending it for an additional 30 days.

 The UAE Digital Government announced on Monday, October 14, on its Twitter account that expatriates residing in any of the GCC countries must obtain an electronic visa before travelling.

“GCC residents and their companions need to apply online for a visa and must obtain it before arriving in the UAE. The visa is valid for 30 days and is extendable once for 30 days. Find the eService to apply,” the announcement read.

The new facility comes as a boon for travellers from Oman and other GCC countries who previously had to exit the country and apply for a new visa for longer stays.

Online Application for the e-visa can be submitted through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai or through the smart channels of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

However, as per the website (https://t.co/6gCW7tGFNg), following eVisa conditions are in place for GCC residents.

• eVisa will be sent to you to your registered email address once your application is approved
• Application for GCC expatriate residents and companions travelling with GCC citizens will not be approved if the sponsor is not travelling along with them
• GCC residents’ entry permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issue and they are allowed to stay for 30 days from the date of entry. The visa is extendable once for 30 days.
• Entry permit for companions travelling with GCC citizens is valid for 60 days from the date of issue and they are allowed to stay for 60 days from the date of entry. The visa is extendable once for 60 days
• Upon arrival, if the GCC residence visa is found to be expired or cancelled, entry will not be granted.
• If the profession of the GCC resident is found to be changed after the issuance of his entry permit, the entry permit holder will not be granted entry.
• GCC residency must be valid for at least 1 year from the arrival date
• The passport of GCC residents must be valid at least 6 months from the arrival date.
