Oman Municipality Disposes of 42.5 Tons of Contaminated Turmeric

Muscat- The North Al Batinah Municipality announced that a total of 42.5 tons of raw turmeric was seized and destroyed at a mill in the Wilayat of Suwaiq owing to health and safety violations.

The municipality stated that the expiration dates on the turmeric products had been tampered with and that the presence of insects was found in the food items. Additionally, it was noted that the storage facilities did not meet the approved health standards, compromising the quality and safety of the product.


In response to these violations, the relevant legal measures have been taken, and the contaminated stock has been destroyed.
