Khareef season has officially started today.

Muscat: Oman officially marks the start of the annual Khareef Dhofar Season today, a rare monsoon event that transforms Dhofar into a lush green haven from June to September.

Stretching from Dhalkout to Mirbat, the southwest monsoon brings mist, light rain, and cool weather, turning the region into a top Gulf summer destination.

To handle the tourism surge, Oman’s civil aviation sector has ramped up operations, with more flights and expanded services. Over 100 hotels and resorts are offering special summer packages, with top resorts near full capacity.

Short-term rentals are also rising, aided by platforms and the “Sikka” initiative. Meanwhile, authorities are ensuring safe, tourist-friendly retail experiences with inspections and awareness drives.
