Muscat- The Amerigo Vespucci, guardian of the most ancient naval and seafaring traditions for over ninety years – is one of the most well-known symbols of Italy in the world.
The Amerigo Vespucci, a historic sailing ship and Training Ship of the Italian Navy, will arrive in Muscat on January 8, marking the 32nd stage of its World Tour. This is the ship’s first visit to Oman.
For over ninety years, the Vespucci has symbolized Italy’s naval traditions. Its World Tour, supported by Italy’s Minister of Defense, Hon. Guido Crosetto, combines officer cadet training with the promotion of Italian excellence. The ship, which departed Genoa on July 1, 2023, is on a two-year round-the-world journey showcasing Italy’s culture, innovation, and heritage.
The ship is expected to dock at Port Sultan Qaboos at 08:00 on January 8, 2025, where it will be welcomed by the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Pierluigi D’Elia, and military officials. The ship will be open to the public on January 9, 10, and 11, 2025.
Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of the Italian Navy, will visit Oman during the port call.
Additionally, from January 8 to 12, a photographic exhibition titled “Voyages Across Oceans: The Legacy of Amerigo Vespucci and Shabab Omani II Maritime Heritage” will be held at The Sustainable City Yiti Experience Center.
