Oman enforces tax stamps on imported excisable beverages.

Oman will expand its Digital Tax Stamp program to include all excisable beverage imports starting January 31, 2025. This marks the third phase of the initiative by the Oman Tax Authority (OTA) to enhance tax compliance. Tax stamps with unique digital codes will be mandatory on excisable beverages, excluding duty-free sales and exports.

By April 30, 2025, all excisable beverages sold locally must have tax stamps, enforced by OTA inspectors. The program includes two marking methods: ‘Direct to Products’ for individual items and Physical Markers for secured labeling. Introduced under a 2022 contract with De La Rue, the system strengthens tracking and ensures excise tax compliance.
