Oman Meteorology Issues Weather Advisory for September 30 – October 1

Oman Meteorology has released a summary of the expected weather conditions for Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1, 2024, highlighting weather events across various regions.

Weather forecast for September 30 indicates development of cumulus clouds, bringing rain of varying intensity between 10-60 mm, which may be thundery. This precipitation will be accompanied by active downward winds and the possibility of hail, particularly in the Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas, with rain potentially extending to the coastal regions of the Sea of Oman.

Additionally, scattered rainfall of 10-20 mm is anticipated over the coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar Governorate and parts of Al Wusta Governorate. Dust may also rise due to wind activity in Dhofar and Al Wusta. Active winds, ranging from 15-35 knots, are expected, leading to reduced horizontal visibility and the dispersal of loose materials during thunderstorms. Coastal conditions will feature medium to rough waves, measuring between 2.0 to 2.5 meters in the Arabian Sea, while the Sea of Oman will experience moderate waves of 1.5 to 2.0 meters.

Forecast for October 1 shows that the formation and flow of clouds will persist, with chances of scattered rain (10-20 mm), occasionally thundery, continuing in the coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar Governorate and the Hajar Mountains. This rain may reach coastal regions of the Sea of Oman.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 15-30 knots, potentially reducing visibility and stirring loose materials during thunderstorms. Coastal conditions will remain moderately rough, with waves of 2.0 to 2.5 meters on the Arabian Sea.
