MUSCAT : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has uncovered a new online scam where fraudsters mimic the official website of the Consumer Protection Authority to steal personal and banking information, leading to unauthorized withdrawals from victims’ accounts.
Through this deceptive platform, they lure unsuspecting users into sharing sensitive personal and banking details. Once the information is obtained, the perpetrators withdraw funds from victims’ bank accounts, causing financial losses.
The Royal Oman Police stresses to everyone the necessity of verifying the authenticity of websites, noting that the Consumer Protection Authority does not request bank card information when completing transactions related to its services.
