Muscat: Oman is expected to face unsettled weather conditions from Sunday, September 29, 2024, until Tuesday, October 1, 2024, according to the latest update from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center has identified an upper-air low-pressure system set to affect parts of the country, bringing with it chances of cloud formation, rain, and thunderstorms.
Starting Sunday, cloud advection and rain of varying intensity are expected over the coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, as well as the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding regions. These conditions may extend to the coastal areas along the Oman Sea, with isolated rain and occasional thundershowers likely.
The CAA has forecasted rainfall ranging from 10 to 30 mm on Sunday and Monday, which could trigger the flow of wadis. Fresh downdraft winds between 15 and 35 knots (28-65 km/h) are also expected, potentially causing the movement of loose objects and a decrease in horizontal visibility due to dust storms. The sea conditions will be moderate, with waves reaching up to 2.25 meters along the Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts.
