Oman’s Commerce Ministry issues warning about online fraud schemes aimed at consumers.

Muscat- The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion has issued a warning about a fraudulent online scheme that involves a fake ministry link designed to report scams related to online purchases.

An online fraud scheme has been detected involving a fake ministry link used to receive reports of scams related to online purchases. We urge everyone to avoid clicking on suspicious links and never share their personal information,” stated the Ministry alert.

The Ministry, in a notice issued online, reported that fraudsters are impersonating government officials and contacting victims via email at tejarah.gov@gmail.com, offering what they claim is a service to protect bank accounts. However, these scammers ultimately request personal information from the complainants in an attempt to steal funds.

“We urge everyone to avoid clicking suspicious links and never share personal data. For inquiries or to report fraud, you can contact the ministry’s call center at 80000070 or through the ministry’s official social media accounts,” stated the alert.
