MUSCAT: A person was arrested for spreading rumours on social media, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said on Tuesday.
The person circulated a video regarding a robbery but upon investigation, the police found out that his claim was not true.
According to ROP, the person circulated a video stating that a robbery took place in Wadi Quriyat in the Wilayat of Bahla when someone was withdrawing money. Upon investigation, ROP said “there is no truth to what was circulated on social media about a robbery under duress taking place while a person was withdrawing money in Wadi Quriyat in the Wilayat of Bahla. The person in the clip was arrested and legal procedures are being completed against him,” ROP added.
