Muscat- ROP on Tuesday warned citizens and residents of a new scam that has emerged recently tricking people into paying GCC traffic violation fines.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has identified an “organized online fraud method” in which scammers pretended to be police members or departments.

According to ROP, several residents have reported receiving a text message stating that they have committed GCC traffic violations and asking them to pay traffic fines immediately, followed by a link for payment. “By clicking the link in the message, people will have to fill their personal and bank data and the scammers will seize the amounts from the account.” ROP added.
“The Royal Oman Police advises everyone not to respond to anonymous messages and avoid disclosing your personal and banking data,” ROP added.
