The Ministry of Health in Oman has released guidelines for Umrah pilgrims.

Muscat – The Ministry advises pilgrims intending to perform Umrah to visit designated health institutions identified by the Ministry in their respective governorates to receive the following necessary vaccines:
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (ACYW135) – Receiving a single dose of the Meningococcal conjugate vaccine protects against complications of meningitis.

This vaccine provides five-year protection. People who have previously taken the vaccine and can provide proof of it are not required to take the vaccine again unless it has been more than five years since their last dose.

Seasonal influenza vaccine: Receiving one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine protects against its complications and provides immunity against influenza viruses. Therefore, it is advisable to receive a dose annually.

The Ministry would like to remind everyone that they you must visit health centres in their governorate to receive vaccinations, preventive medications, and informational guidance according to the requirements of the countries they intend to travel to.

“To safeguard public health and prevent the spread of infections, please ensure to receive vaccinations at least ten days before traveling. This timeframe is deemed essential to prevent infection transmission and uphold public health standards,” states the Ministry guideline.
